A firm of communication
skills specialists has trebled its client base, and doubled its turnover
in the last 12 months.
‘Be Clear Ltd’, based in Market Harborough, which was launched in 2000, revealed the surge in growth at its second birthday party. Company MD, Christine Searancke, said her team of six consultants was now working with 45 businesses, most of which are based in and around Leicester. "We are delivering advice and practical support to firms across the county, who want to improve the impact of sales and conference presentations, prepare winning bid and tender documents, respond confidently in media interviews, and make the most of public speaking opportunities," she said. Previously a senior manager with NatWest Bank in London, Christine was inspired to launch ‘Be Clear’ after witnessing first-hand a series of what she describes as ‘really dire’ corporate presentations by companies tendering to work with the bank. She says she is delighted but surprised by the company’s rate of growth, around 80% of which has been generated through networking and personal recommendation: "We offer a unique service in the region, and initially it took a little while for people to understand what we’re about. Whilst we help individuals and businesses communicate more effectively, we’re neither a PR company, nor primarily, a training company. "Our service is about honing both the message and the delivery, for a particular occasion – so we might work with a client on the content of a speech or audio-visual presentation, and at the same time, provide voice coaching," she continued. Almost all the firm’s work is bespoke, in that it relates to a one-off submission or event, which might entail a conference platform with an audience of 500, or a one to one briefing with a journalist. "Clients tell us that sharper presentation skills help them command attention and boost confidence, giving them a competitive edge when it really matters. Because our input is objective, we can give them a better insight into the needs of their audience," she added. Clients include Next, Curryslim, Leicester Promotions, Prima Solutions, Rowley’s chartered accountants, telemarketing company By Appointment, and recruitment specialists the Work Partnership, many of which were represented at the company’s birthday event held at the Highpoint conference centre in Glenfield Road. ‘Be Clear’ has also won contracts in London and the south east. |
