three heads are better than one

Since the New Year Claire Biggadyke and Ingrid St Clare have joined the team at be clear, enabling us to expand flexibly and respond better to our customers needs.

Claire brings a wealth of customer focused experience and a very clear thinking mind. Since January she has taken on most of the day-to-day administration ‘stuff’, meaning that I can spend more times with customers. In particular, I am now able to spend two or three days a week with customers in London.

However, Claire is also becoming increasingly involved with preparing presentations and is now working closely with a number of our Midlands based customers.

Ingrid St Clare is a very experienced Voice and Speech Trainer and I am delighted that she has agreed to work with us as an associate. Ingrid has a wealth of experience in voice and communication training in the theatre, education and professions. In the past she has worked with people from Barclays, Unilever and Avon Cosmetics amongst many other well-known names.

Having Ingrid means that we can offer our customers personal voice and speech coaching, this can be especially important to those who regularly present to conference audiences.

an olympic evening

What have British Olympic Gold Medallist, Derek Redmond and be clear director, Christine Searancke got in common?

They both spoke recently at the Professional Speakers Association (PSA) in Birmingham.

Derek spoke about ‘shaping up for success’; this was a highly motivational insight into achieving our goals and making them real. During the presentation Derek showed that whilst barriers can arise and our route does not always go as planned, remaining focused and re-evaluating will lead to ultimate success.

Christine spoke about ‘Objectives’ and she talked about the importance of having clear objectives before preparing any presentation or sales pitch.

Mary Collin, President of the midlands chapter of the PSA said ‘It was fantastic evening, I am sure that everyone there gained a great deal from the evening’. The PSA represents the interests of the public speaking profession and supports continual improvement of both professional and business speakers. Whether you are a professional speaker, a trainer or would just like to hear some great speakers – the PSA will welcome you.

the conference speech

Yes, you know it is really important; yes you know that it matters; you definitely know when the presentation needs to be with the conference organisers! What you do not know is how you are going to find the time to write it. Berlin on Monday, Paris on Tuesday, New York on Wednesday…..sound familiar?

Our customer Mike Smith, MD of PreNet (Europe) Ltd was in just that sort of situation when he asked us to work on a presentation for him. As Mike was out of the country a great deal, we worked with him using emails and a series of scheduled telephone meetings for most of our contact. By working this way we were able to complete the whole presentation including professional graphic design work in less than a week.

To make matters worse Mike was speaking at 2.30 in the afternoon, the dreaded ‘graveyard slot’. So we worked together to think of a really innovative start to the presentation; one that really grabbed the audience attention and made sure that they were listening.

After the conference Mike said "the flexibility that be clear offers is ideal for this type of situation. By working together we created one of the best presentations of the conference".
